Lauren McCarthy, Chairman of the Auto Show
When you grow up in a family that owns McCarthy Auto Group with seven car dealerships and five collision centers, you learn a lot about cars. When Auto Show Chairman Lauren McCarthy graduated from Avila University she knew what she wanted to do…join the family business.
““I’m so proud of my family and I simply wanted to be a part of it all; contribute something different, something meaningful,” says Lauren.
After working in different areas of the dealerships, Lauren took on the role of PR and Marketing Director and developed an integrated marketing campaign called Lauren Wants to Know that’s aimed at helping women feel more comfortable when buying and servicing their vehicles. Lauren wants women to understand buying a car can be empowering and fun.
Lauren is a familiar face around Kansas City. When she isn’t tweeting, blogging and talking about all the things women need to know about their vehicles, she’s serving in the community. She’s on the board of the Automobile Dealers of Greater Kansas City (ADAKC), the ADAKC Charitable Foundation and Young Variety. She donates time to her alma mater where she received her degree in Advertising and PR/Film and Digital Media and played on the women’s basketball team. She’s on the Avila Board of Counselors, the Steer Dinner Leadership Committee and the Advancement Committee. She’s also been recognized by the Direct Marketing Association of Detroit for her innovative marketing campaign.
As the first female and the youngest Auto Show Chairman, Lauren is bringing a new perspective and energy to the show. “The 500 new vehicles on display are the heart of the show and people look forward to seeing the latest in new technology, styling and features. They also come for the fun and this year we have new events like the opening night benefit for Children’s Mercy. It’s exciting to be a part of such a dynamic auto show.”
